James Rye

James Rye’s Early Career

Before becoming a counsellor and psychotherapist, James Rye worked for nearly 30 years as a teacher, lecturer, and manager in schools, colleges, and universities in and around King’s Lynn. He taught English (Language and Literature), Linguistics, Humanities, and Education. In the latter part of his teaching career James was Head of Humanities at the College of West Anglia. He also taught on undergraduate or postgraduate programmes for the University of Huddersfield, the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, the Open University, and Anglia Ruskin University.

James Rye’s Later Career

James retrained as a therapist and was in Private Practice as Director of Connections Counselling Ltd from 1979-2021 working therapeutically with clients and delivering inservice training and supervision to counsellors. As well as working in Private Practice in King’s Lynn with individuals who contacted him, James Rye worked therapeutically with clients from across the UK and the world (via the internet). He also delivered counselling to company employees via various Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) providers.

James was a Senior Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Snr.Accred. Registered Member 13083). He was formerly Chair of the Private Practice Division within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) 2013-2015. James Rye was a founding partner in Peterborough Counsellor Training.

James Rye is also a trained and qualified King’s Lynn Town Guide.
